I wouldn't be me without books!
Books are sustenance and adventure and travel and discovery. I love reading them and I love making them. I made my first picture book for Children's Book Week in primary school, and I still have it. All along the way, books, art, music, and funnily enough, maths, have been weaving their way in and out of my life. My picture books express my keen observation of life and my delight in understanding who and what and where and when and how and why! I am a graduate of the Children's Book Academy “The Craft and Business of Writing Picture Books” course and the matching course for Illustrating. I enjoy learning, chatting and critiquing with local writers and illustrators at Write Links, a great children's author and illustrators professional development group in my home town of Brisbane, Australia. I am intrigued by lots of things... architecture, art, talking to horses, archaeology, psychology, ukulele, violin, writing letters, making things – always designing and making things, and mindfulness meditation to cool off my imagination. But my favourite and most inspiring thing is connecting with my family and friends. I live quite close to the city centre, and also right near a lovely creek where you will often find me enjoying nature. |
